Community guidelines
These rules exist because the ParamAI Blog is read by students, including students under 18. Keeping conversations safe is not optional — it's why the community exists at all.
Who can post
You must be at least 16 years old to post comments on this site. If you're younger, you're welcome to read everything — but please wait before commenting. Many of the topics we discuss (career choices, entrance exams, peer pressure) land differently for readers of different ages, and we want conversations to stay helpful rather than confusing.
Comments are powered by GitHub Discussions via Giscus. GitHub requires an account holder to be at least 13, and by commenting here you confirm you also meet our 16+ requirement.
What's welcome
- Sharing your own experiences, learning, and reflections.
- Asking honest questions, even if you think they're "basic".
- Recommending books, courses, YouTube channels, or tools that helped you.
- Polite disagreement and corrections — if we or someone else got something wrong, say so.
- Connecting with other students exploring the same interests.
What's not welcome
1. Personal information (PII)
Do not post phone numbers, home addresses, school names, full names, email addresses, WhatsApp numbers, Instagram handles, or anything else that could let strangers contact or identify someone — yours or anyone else's. This rule is strict. Comments containing PII are removed on sight, regardless of intent.
This is also why we deliberately do not offer private messaging. If you want to find a study partner or collaborator, do it through the public comment thread or through your school.
2. Harassment, hate, and discrimination
No insults, slurs, or personal attacks. No discrimination based on caste, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, region, or language. If you're unsure whether a comment crosses a line, don't post it.
3. Sexual or suggestive content
Absolutely not. This is a student-facing site. Posts with sexual content, innuendo, or inappropriate imagery are removed immediately and the account is reported to GitHub.
4. Spam, self-promotion, and scams
Do not post:
- Promotional links to your own course, coaching, or business without disclosure.
- "Join my WhatsApp group / Telegram channel" invitations.
- Affiliate links or referral schemes.
- "Guaranteed IIT admission for ₹X" or similar scams. We flag these to authorities.
If you've written something that's genuinely relevant and it happens to be on your own blog, go ahead and link it — as long as that's not the entire purpose of your comment.
5. Political and religious flame wars
We don't host political debates here. You can mention policy when it's directly relevant to a career sector (e.g. the Digital India stack for fintech, NEP 2020 for edtech) but please keep it factual. Calls to action, partisan attacks, and religious arguments get removed.
6. Misinformation, especially about exams and admissions
Do not post false information about JEE, NEET, UPSC, or any entrance exam. Do not post fake salary figures, fake placement statistics, or made-up "insider" information. Students make life-shaping decisions based on what they read — be honest or be quiet.
Moderation
New commenters may be pre-moderated, meaning your first comment won't be visible until we approve it. This is a one-time thing and keeps the spam baseline low.
We review all reported comments within 24 hours. Serious violations (PII, harassment, sexual content) are removed immediately and the account is blocked.
Moderation is currently done by the ParamAI team. As the community grows we'll add student moderators — if you'd be interested, comment on any post with your interest and we'll reach out through a public reply.
How to report a comment
Three options, pick whichever is easiest:
- Click the three-dot menu on any comment → Report. This goes directly to GitHub and to us.
- Email grievance@paramai.in with a link to the comment. We reply within 24 hours.
- See the Grievance Officer page for the formal complaint process required under Indian IT Rules 2021.
Consequences of breaking the rules
- First minor violation: comment removed, warning via reply.
- Repeated minor violations: temporary block.
- Major violation (harassment, PII sharing, sexual content, scam): immediate removal + permanent block + report to GitHub.
- Anything that appears illegal (threats, child safety issues, fraud): reported to the appropriate authorities in addition to the above.
Appeals
If you think a moderation decision was wrong, email grievance@paramai.in with a link to the comment and a short explanation. We re-review within 7 days.
Updates to these guidelines
We may update these guidelines as the community grows. Material changes will be announced in a pinned comment on the home page. Non-material changes (wording, structure) happen quietly.
